Renault has revealed the nameplate 'Boreal' for its upcoming C-Segment SUV. Renault Boreal will be revealed firstly in Latin American countries. The car will be launched across more than 65+countries.

Renault Boreal is available in both 5-seat and 7-seat configuration. In India Renault Boreal will be lauched in 2026 along with the new Gen Duster. Lets check out the details of the new Boreal.

Renault Boreal - How it is different from Dacia Bigster


It has heavy camouflage, It consists of a unique grille design and large Renault logo. Bumber section has been modified with wider intake in comparison to that of Dacia Bigster. Bigster carries rugged aesthetics, Renault Boreal emphasises more on refinedment and sophistication.

Lighting is largely same format as seen with Dacia Bigster. Side Profile also looks same as the Dacia Bigster. However, there are some variation in body cladding and wheel arch structures. The SUV is expected to use a new set of alloy wheels.

If we talk about the equipment list it is same as Dacia Bigster sold in Europe. Keyhighlights includes a 7-inch or 10 inch digital driver display and a 10.1 inch touchscreen infotainment system. A panormic sunroof, premium sound system, ventilated front seats, electronic parking brake and wireless phone charging. It also has a robust safety kit that includes ADAS and multiple airbags.

Powertain options


Renault has not yet disclosed the powertrain options for the Boreal. However, the Dacia Bigster offers mild-hybrid and full-hybrid configurations. One option is the TCe 130 4x4, featuring a 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, delivering 230 Nm of torque and mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Alternatively, the TCe 140 mild-hybrid produces the same torque and also comes with a 6-speed manual gearbox.  

The Bigster’s full-hybrid variant includes a 1.8L 4-cylinder petrol engine and two electric motors, generating 155 hp and paired with a clutchless multi-mode automatic transmission. This setup supports all-electric driving for up to 80% of city commutes, aided by regenerative braking to extend range. For the Indian market, Renault may introduce a full-hybrid option for the Boreal.
